Memorial Day weekend is coming up which means plenty us will be attending graduations, family outings, or heading for a quick weekend getaway. If your lucky enough to be jet-setting someplace exotic (I hear the Mouse River is particularly lovely this year) be sure to soak in the sun and have some fun for all of us back in beautiful Grand Forks. Don’t feel bad for us though because finally the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, and family is coming to town!
Family is such an important part of life in North Dakota. We live in a tight community that has changed and grown right along with us, but sometimes we need to take a quiet moment for ourselves to breathe in the fresh air.
This week, in between baking bars and preparing your famous hotdish, take a moment to do something for you! This could mean grabbing your friends this Thursday and heading down to Mikes Pizza for Open Mic Night. Watch musicians perform from 10pm-1am, free of charge. If you want something a little quieter, enjoy the art of Mike Deziel at Forks Frame Up. Mike’s drawings are focused on portraits, landscapes, and nautical scenes. Need to get out of the house and go for a walk? Stroll down the streets of downtown Grand Forks and East Grand Forks. There are plenty of galleries, patisseries, and other -ies that all ages can enjoy. Grab a bite to eat at Dakota Harvest, Amazing Grains, Mamma Marias, or the new Little Bankok in East Grand Forks and take a moment for you. Because you know what? You deserve it.
